MHF1 Lightning Round: Guild 5★ - A Giant Dragon Invades! (Solo)

This attempt was from a post in Capcom Unity. One of the members was having issues soloing and finishing the key quest in MHF1. He posted his initial equipment he was using for the attempt and I decided I'd give it a try myself. Since I wasn't sure if it's possible at all, I brought along some Large barrel bomb+'s and power seeds as well as used the Felyne kitchen to give me same effect as the Mega demon drug (and 150 health).

The video itself is very long since it recorded the whole quest without any editing. I was planning to cut some of the load times short and add a few text to explain some of the action I took in the video. Unfortunately the video editor I was using acted up and just wouldn't co-operate with me.

The equipment I used is as follows:

Items I took are:

Combo books 1-4

Large Barrel Bomb+ x 2

Large Barrel Bomb x 3

Powercharm

Armorcharm

Monster Broth x 13 (for large bomb+)

Gunpowder x 10 (for large bomb+)

Large barrel x 10 (for large bomb+)

Whetstone x 20

Power Seed x 10

Small Barrel Bomb+ x 5 (should have just used normal small barrel bombs)

Farcaster

Here's the flow of the quest:

At the start, grab the potions, mini-whetstones, rations, and barrista bullets from the box.

In area 2, use the Large barrel bomb+ on the Lao as soon as his head is in range. Then drink a power seed and attack the head all the way through the first area. Near the exit of the first area, get up on the bridge up top so the Lao will stand up. I do this to delay his movement and give me some time to replenish the sharpness of the weapon as well as drink another power seed.

In area 3, do the same thing with the Large barrel bomb+. Drink another power seed and continue to attack it's head.

In area 4, do the exact same thing as in area 2.

In area 5, use the barrista on the Lao as soon as it enters the area. You'll want to aim kinda at the bottom of the right cliff (see video ). Then proceed to use up all the remaining Large barrel bomb+ and continue to attack the head. When it stands up for the first time, use the farcaster to get back to camp and quickly return to area 5. Lao should be either right at the wall or near it so you should be able to use the dragonator once it's in range. After that, attack it's head when it's on the ground and attack it's stomach when it stands up.

In the video, I actually make 3 mistakes at the end. First, I should of used small barrel bombs instead of the + version since I ran out at the end(can hold 10 for the normal ones). Next, I forgot to combine the last Large Barrel bomb+ so it ends up just being a large barrel bomb (not a big deal). Finally, I completely screw up the timing for the dragonator (I must of been smoking pot or something)!

Despite the screw ups, I was still successful in repelling the Lao. I wasn't really sure if I'd succeed and was half thinking I wouldn't especially after screwing up the dragonator timing. I was pleasantly surprised when I saw I succeeded.
