Merry Christmas! SRW Alpha 3 Lightning Round: Selena Stage 12 Epilogue

Merry Christmas everyone!

The last part of stage 12 is finally done.

Nothing really special to note in terms of translation.

This few weeks have not been very pleasant as I've been getting sick. But I was determined to get this video out before Christmas and I was pretty happy I did...well kinda.

Anway, hope you guys enjoy and have a merry Christmas!

I'll leave a link for the video here until it's done uploading:
http://youtu.be/TBcCu9pbPd0

I'll embed the video when it's ready.

Here's the video:

SRW Alpha 3 Lightning Round: Selena Stage 12 Conclusion

The moment you have all been waiting for is finally here!

Stage translation is finally complete! Now witness the power of Dygenguar!

Anyway, I'm happy to say that it's finally done and I finished it before leaving for my trip. It was a long time coming and it is finally up. I hope you all enjoy it. It did end up being quite long because of the story event that takes place halfway through the game.

I don't know if I'll have a chance to update my blog during my trip but if I don't, I'll let you know when I'm back and working on the epilogue for this stage. Until then, enjoy the video!

Masou Kishin Series and Updates

As mentioned before, I now have all of the Masou Kishin series in my collection. Unfortuantely, it looks like a while before I can really start playing all of them.

The biggest reason is the picture below:

This is a pic from the art book that came along with the Limited Edition Masou Kishin F box. It outlines how this series and the other OG series Super Robot games connect.

I knew about some of the series placements but I was quite surprised to see some that I didn't think had any bearing to the rest of the series.

Here's a translation:
Masou Kishin The Lord of Elemental Part 1
Super Robot Wars OG Original Generations (PS2)
Super Robot Wars OG Gaiden (PS2)
Endless Frontier EXCEED Super Robot Wars OG Saga (DS)
Another Century's Episode: R (PS3)
2nd Super Robot Wars OG (PS3)
Super Robot Wars OG Dark Prison (PS3)
Masou Kishin The Lord of Elemental Part 2

Of course, after The Lord of Elemental, the rest of the Masou Kishin will continue from there.

The surprise was to see ACE:R and Endless Frontier. I knew that both games had some cameo's from the OG series but was not aware that they actually were officially part of the story. I think I'll have to see if I can pick up Endless Frontier when I go to Japan later. I know they actually did translate that and brought it over but I do prefer Japanese text. I'll also have to see if I can get Dark prison some how.

In terms of the translation project, I've been working at it for a long while and I think I'm almost done. This next episode looks to be over 1.5 hours long despite cutting out quite a few scenes. Most likely due to the story event that takes place half way through the stage. I thought about splitting it but the transition between the stage and the story part just didn't sit well with me. I'm sure you guys are looking forward to this episode for a very long time. Hopefully I should have it upload it soon.

SRW Alpha 3 Lightning Round: Selena Stage 12 Prologue

Sorry about the extremely late update. I don't really have any excuse. You could say I've been lazy.

I've been trying to finish off a lot of my games and Metal Gear Rising: Revengence would be the latest one to be added to the list of games completed.

Now, enough about that. Here's the prologue for stage 12. I'm sure a lot of you are waiting for the actual stage gameplay as our sword of justice will make his appearance.

There's not much to really note about the video.

Just enjoy:

SRW Alpha 3 Lightning Round: Selena Stage 11 Epilogue

I'm guessing some of you might be starting to think I've given up doing the project, but not to worry. Even though it is taking a lot longer in between video uploads, I have no intentions on giving up.

There isn't very much to say about the translation for this video. It's pretty straight forward.

Enjoy!

SRW Alpha 3 Lightning Round: Selena Stage 11 Power Junction

I hope Mr. Eiichiro Oda gets well soon. Chopper should be taking care of him!

Stage 11 gameplay is finally finished! The new format does make the videos shorter but takes a lot longer to finish the video for the gameplay portion with the translating and editing. It sucks that it's making it longer for me to get more of these videos out. But I'm hoping in the long run, it'll start paying off and make it possible for me to cut out a chunk of gameplay footage that have already been translated. The video is still fairly long despite cutting a lot of it away. It's just under 1 hour and the raw gameplay footage is probably twice that.

This stage is pretty straight forward. It may seem like a tall order to finish the stage within 7 turns but there's only one additional unit that pops up as reinforcements for the enemy and you get most of the super robot team members show up as your reinforcements. Just use (or abuse) your spirit commands and it'll be fairly easy to clear the stage within 7 turns. Beware of the 3 boss units though. Death Gaia and Warchimedes both have group attacks so make sure your platoon members are safe when in range of them. Dungele packs some heat and can even kill some super robot type units in one hit. Always use a defensive spirit command when attacking those three. You might also want to use a group attack on them to kill their platoon members as they tend to like using them as shields or boost their hit rate when attacking as a platoon (Team attack).

Now, on to the video. There isn't anything special to note in terms of translation. It's pretty straight forward for the most part. I should say that I've decided NOT to translate shouting/screams. Unless they're shouting/screaming a specific word, I've stuck with just translating in romanized Japanese (Romaji).

Enjoy the video:

As usual, the video at this point needs 400 minutes to finish uploading. I will update when it's done. Video has finished uploading.

SRW Alpha 3 Lightning Round: Selena Stage 11 Prologue

Samus acquired the missile upgrade!

Stage 11 prologue is done. Unfortunately, I have not yet recorded the gameplay of stage 11. Hopefully, I will be able to do that in the next few days and get a video up next week, but no promises. I'll still post an update of some sort on the blog next week to let you guys know of my progress either way.

There's only one thing to note. Many of you probably already know about the Japanese honorific of "-kun" or "-san". It's a form of addressing someone in a polite way and can be used with the first name. Unfortunately, there is no equal translation in English. Thus, I've opted to use 'Mr', 'Ms', or 'Mrs' along with the first name. The part where Kira calls Judau, Mr. Judau is one example. Some of you probably figured that out from my use of 'Ms Selena'.

SRW Alpha 3 Lightning Round: Selena Stage 10 Epilogue

The peaceful executioner is watching over me to ensure I keep up with the project.

The final part of Stage 10 is done.

Not much to say for the epilogue. I just think they purposely made Murrue creepy by making her smile all through out the court-martial (except when putting Mu in line).

I haven't had a chance to record stage 11 yet but hoping to do that tomorrow so I can start the subbing for the prologue as well.

Anyway, enjoy the video:

SRW Alpha 3 Lightning Round: Selena Stage 10 Goodbye Friends

First off, I'd like to apologize for the massive delay:

As you can see, Ed is going making sure I work harder and keep updating at least once a week even if I don't have a video to upload.

Joking aside, this past month has been extremely busy for me due to some changes in my life. Positive changes mind you, but changes that have affected the amount of time I can make to work on this project.

These changes have greatly affected my plans for the videos. For one, if I continue to upload big chunks of gameplay video, some stages can take up to 2 hours or more. I thought about cutting the video in parts but after mauling different ideas in my mind, I came to this conclusion. Since the idea of the project is to "Lightning Round" Japanese text in the game, I decided I'll cut out everything in between.

You'll notice that the video is quite different from my previous uploads. I've only included chat events and battle scenes that had any conversation that I had not yet translated before. There are no markers this time but if I get enough complaints, I'll list them in the descriptions like before.

I'm hoping this will make it easier for me in the long run and you won't need to watch me fumble around in the menu.

This stage can get tough depending on how you play it. If you are going for the challenge mission, you'll need to risk your starting characters before reinforcements show up. Once they show up, it should make it a little bit easier. Just remember that all the Gundam's you were using before have gotten an upgrade and they are far more stronger than when they were your allies.

Creuset would probably will be the hardest if you haven't saved any spirit commands that give your character 100% hit rate plus a defensive command of some sort. By the time you get to him, he'll have a very high evade rate and he has some group attacks that can do some damage to your platoon members.

Not much to note for the translation:
  - One of Judau's battle chat cuts off before he finishes. I've made the chat show up earlier so you can at least see what he says.
  - In the end of the first SRW Alpha SRW Alpha Gaiden game, the macross group took off to the stars in the Megaroad. A ship/colony/city much like the original Macross but even more massive.

Without further delay, here's the video:

Video has 420 minutes left for uploading as of typing this. I will update when it's done.
Video is done uploading. Enjoy!

SRW Alpha 3 Lightning Round: Selena Stage 10 Prologue

Here's the newest video. The prologue is quite short.

Not very much to note except one thing.
- Boosted newtype are from the Gundam series. Specifically, the Universal Century Gundam series. They can also be called cyber newtypes. They are essentially, artificially created newtypes. Most of these cyber newtypes are created from human experimentation. They're created by brainwashing, genetically engineering, cloning, doping, etc. This is why Four is very sympathetic with the Coordinators.

SRW Alpha 3 Lightning Round: Selena Stage 9 Epilogue

Finally starting to get back into my groove. I think I've got my MH3U addiction under control... There's really not much to stage 9 epilogue. There's no special notes about translation and the dialogue speaks for itself. I did have to kinda put the part where Kira and Flay cry with romanji. I just couldn't think of a proper English sound effect for crying... "Waaah" just wouldn't work.

There is one thing I'd like to note with the previous video. As it was pointed out by someone, I actually made a mistake of labelling the Super Gundam's attack as Beam Rifle when it's using the Long Rifle.

I'm looking forward to doing Stage 10 though... Start to see some of my favourite series show up.

Anyway, enjoy the video:

SRW Alpha 3 Lightning Round: Selena Stage 9 Avenger

Sorry for the delay. I had tried to get it uploaded last week but my MH3U addiction had impeded my progress greatly.

This stage was a bit more exciting because of the new original enemy units that appear. The stage is kinda divided into two parts. In the first half, you'll be fighting the Alpha numbers again. Just like in Stage 8, you'll want to use spirit commands that increase your hit rate against, Kamille, Duo, Heero, Quatre, Kira, and Mu. But make sure to save the spirit commands that give you 100% hit rate for the second half of the stage if you want to get the skill point for this stage.

Once you complete the objective, an event will occur and a new batch of enemies will appear. The challenge mission for this stage is quite difficult to achieve without abusing the in-game save and reset. Since I didn't need to get the skill points as I'm not going for the good ending, I ignored it in this stage. The challenge mission is to destroy the Varuch Ishar. However, if it's HP hits below 4000, the stage will end. So you will need to get the Varuch Ishar down to near 4000 HP and then use an attack that will destroy it in one go. What makes this hard is the unit has a barrier and high evade rate. This is why you want to save the 100% hit rate spirit commands. To do more than 4000 HP damage at once, you'll want to use the support attack from another platoon. Saving before attacking will be very helpful in case you miss or you find out you can't do enough damage.

Just be careful with the Varuch Bens. They actually have a better hit rate than normal enemies and can do some pretty good damage if you're not careful.

Two notes for translation:
 - The defeat dialogue by the Alpha numbers don't seem to change. At least with the ones that appeared here, they are the exact same as the one seen in stage 8.
 - At 1:06:03 of the video, when Ades gets damage from a Balshem, he refers to the attacker as Naturals. Don't ask me why. It is definitely not a translation error.

The video is 1 hour and 20 minutes long. I'm considering diving videos up into two parts when they get over an hour for future uploads. Remember that there are markers in the description, which you can use to skip to various event points. I've omitted the defeat dialogues for the Alpha numbers this time around as they are the same as the ones in stage 8.

Here's the video:

At this point, the video has 781 minutes left for uploading. I'll update when it's completed.
Update: Video upload failed! My stupid computer had done a windows update and restarted. I'm re-attempting to upload again. This time the computer won't be doing any damn updates... Another 922 minutes from now...
Update 2: Video has completed last night. Enjoy!

SRW Alpha 3 Lightning Round: Selena Stage 9 Prologue and Monster Hunter Tri Ultimate

Sorry for the long wait. Next video is finally here. I actually love how Emma tells Murrue to grow a spine.

There's not really much to say about the translation here. I think I've already mentioned about Blue Cosmos in an earlier post.

The gameplay for this stage however is very long (1 hour and 30 minutes I think) and I'm not sure if I'll be able to upload it within this next week but we'll see how things go. Hopefully, a lot of the dialogue is already translated in previous ones.

Video should finish uploading in about 2.5 hours from when I posted this so enjoy:

On a side note, I just recently gotten a Wii U just to play Monster Hunter Tri Ultimate (MHTU). I'm not too impressed with the menu load times though... Seems to take a lot longer to load each of the applications. I do like the gamepad and the built-in mic as it makes chatting easy when playing online. As some of you might have guessed already, I'm a huge Monster Hunter fan and loved the series when it first came out on PS2. Unfortunately, I didn't get to play it too much on PS2 but I've got an extensive experience with the first one on PSP (1100+ hours I believe). I've been working on MHF2 on PSP trying to work my way to MHFU. Mean while on the Wii, I had completed my collection of Switchaxes on Monster Hunter Tri (MHT).

It's unfortunate that the MHT server will be taken down as you will never be able to get access to the online  content unlike the PSP games. I had hoped to collect all the weapons and many other awards but it would seem that will not happen. I guess I'll just have to accomplish it on MHTU.

I've actually got MHTU on both Wii U and 3DS. I always liked it on handheld and since, it let's you transfer between the two systems, I had to get both. If you aren't a fan of the series though, I'd highly recommend the Wii U version as you'll have the gamepad with two analog sticks so you can control the camera with the right stick instead of the D-pad on the left. You also have online play instead of Ad-hoc local play on the 3DS.

If some of you are hunters and would like to go on a hunt with me, let me know so I can give you my ID.

SRW Alpha 3 Lightning Round: Selena Stage 8 Epilogue and Personal Vacation

Stage 8 is now complete.

After much deliberation, I've decided I'll keep the stage 8 gameplay video as is, even though the left audio is missing. The only way to fix that would be to re-record and re-sub the gameplay part which will cause delays on the whole project. I think most of you would rather see me continue on rather than redoing something that is already done.

That being said, when this project is completed, there might be a chance I might go back and redo this whole stage.

There's one note for the epilogue:
 - 30 Bunch incident is from the Zeta gundam series. It's an incident in where a colony was gassed by the Federation elites Titan, which killed hundreds of innocent colonists along with the rebels. Titans were known for their discrimination against Spacenoids.

Here's the video:

This next 3 weeks, I will be going on vacation and will be out of country. This means I won't be able to work on the project during the 3 weeks as I don't have a laptop.

Fear not! When I get back I'll get right back in continuing the project. It's just a long break.

Anyway, I hope you guys enjoy the video. Watch for my blog update in the first week of March!

SRW Alpha 3 Lightning Round: Selena Stage 8 Invisible Intruder

Sorry for the delay... I had hoped to finished this section last week but it took a lot longer than anticipated. The stage starts off with a story event first. Once it switches back to the stage map, the stage will begin. Since I wanted to upload this video as quick as possible, I might have not done a good job proof reading all the dialogue that was translated. Let me know if I missed anything.

The stage itself is not too difficult as long as you use all the character's spirit commands. Once you defeat 4 enemy platoons, reinforcements will arrive for the enemies. There are a few characters to watch out: Heero, Quatre, Duo, Kamille, and Kira. Kira in particular will require a 100% hit rate spirit command to hit him as he has a very high evade rate. When the reinforcements arrive, I suggest using Elma's spirit command which decreases all the enemy's hit rate. Use any defensive spirit command for all characters and you should be able to destroy all enemy units before turn 6.

A few notes for this video:
 - A 'cleaner' mentioned by Selena is someone that does 'wet work' for the organization (ie. assassination, infiltration, spying, etc.)

 - At around 36:57 in the video, the battle dialogue of Selena gets skipped when she evades. Before Elma's dialogue, she is supposed to say "Elma! Re-calculate enemy range and speed!" This is the game that cuts that dialogue and I can't do anything about it.

 - At around 45:25 in the video, Murrue's audio dialogue gets cut off halfway when she get's hit. Same thing as above.

 - As usual, the markers for the stage is in the description. You'll notice there's a lot this time around. Probably the most number of markers to date so far.

Here's the video:

As mentioned, this video is long (Just about an hour long) and will take some time uploading. It's at the 1116 minute mark right now as I'm typing this. I will update again once it's finised uploading. Video is uploaded.

On a side note, I think a lot of you would like to download the video instead of watching on youtube. I'm considering uploading it somewhere but could use some suggestions on where to upload it. Let me know in the comments.

UPDATE: KitsuneRagnell has pointed out the audio on the left side is missing. I have found the whole stage 8 recording was missing the left audio. Unfortunately, I can't fix it and will need to re-record the whole section. I might go back and do it when I come back from vacation but for now the video will need to be as is. This applies to Stage 8 Prologue and Stage 8 Epilogue (yet to be posted) as well. Sorry for the sloppy work.

SRW Alpha 3 Lightning Round: Selena Stage 8 Prologue

I really think Murrue is such an idiot. Asking Emma what they should do even though she's a lower rank than Murrue. I know she's a newly graduated academy officer but even Bright wasn't this much of an idiot or desperate. I just can't like her at all.

My opinions aside, here's a few notes:
 - Gamow is another Zaft ship that is under Creuset Fleet. It doesn't look like we'll ever see any other ship except the Vesalius under Creuset fleet though.

 - The Hawk of Endymion is Mu's nickname after successfully defeating 5 Ginn mobile suits with just his Moebius mobile armour in the Endymion Crator battle. He was also the only surviving Moebius pilot after that war.

 - White Shooting Star is Amuro Ray's nickname in the Super Robot War's Alpha series.

Enjoy the video:

UPDATE: Some of you might notice the left side audio is missing. Unfortunately, it was recorded by accident this way. Refer to Stage 8 Invisible Intruder post.

SRW Alpha 3 Lightning Round: Selena Stage 7 Epilogue

I'm happy to report that stage 7 is completed.

The Epilogue is quite short. Probably because of the long stage end event that takes place before it.

There's nothing really to note for translation wise. Nothing really complicated. I'm sure most of you probably know 'Legged-ship' is referring to the Archangel.

On with the video:

SRW Alpha 3 Lightning Round: Selena Stage 7 One's Justice

Sorry for the delay. As I mentioned in my previous blog post, the last few weeks have been busy with holidays and catching a cold. I'm finally feeling better now and happy to say stage 7 gameplay has been completed.

This stage was annoying to play. You can't let any of your characters die and none of the SEED gundams have very good armor or evade. Athrun in particular kept dying over and over and caused me to redo the stage 3 times before I finished the first turn without a gameover. Thankfully, the third try let me playthrough non-stop.

For the strategy for this stage, make full use of the spirit commands and make sure to save at the start of each turn. Athrun can still die even if you use the spirit command that increases his evade and hit rate which can really cause you problems when trying to complete the challenge mission.

Since you need to finish the stage within 3 turns, you will need to move Wufei or Athrun to their maximum distance each turn to reach the destination point. If you want to get the skill point for this stage, I suggest using Athrun's spirit command to increase his evade and move him as far as he can towards the destination point. This will trigger the enemy reinforcement event and will make it easier to kill off all the enemies within 3 turns as you can counter their attacks during the enemies first turn.

A few things to note about the video:
- You'll notice that the stage objective window closes very quickly. I think I was frustrated and I kinda quickly skipped it. That's why I left the stage objective translation up even when the window had already closed so people who want to know it can still read it all.

- The stage end event is very long. This is due to the fact that it actually has a story event and a second stage map which is all entirely events and no gameplay.

- I've done the usual procedure for proof reading but since I'm still a little sick, there might be a few things I might have still missed. If you notice anything, let me know.

Without further ado, here's the video:

At this point, the video is uploading at 444 minutes remaining. As usual, I'll update this post when I see the video has finished uploading.

Video is uploaded!

SRW Alpha 3 Lightning Round: Selena Stage 7 Prologue

I actually had to re-record this stage 3 times. I'll put the details when I upload the actual stage gameplay later.

There a few notes for the prologue:
 - Preventers are a secret special ops group created by the President of the Federation government to prevent any seeds of conflict from blooming. It's from Gundam Wing Endless Waltz.

 - PS armor or Phase Shift armor is a special type of armor that make the unit impervious to bullet type weapons. Lasers will still damage the armor though.

 - Assault shroud armor is an extra armor for the Dual Duel Gundam. It was originally used to repair the Dual Duel when it got damaged while capturing the unit in SEED series. It also adds a shoulder cannon.

And here's the video:

Update: Fixed the spelling mistake with Duel Gundam.

SRW Alpha 3 Lightning Round: Selena Stage 6 The Beginning

The stage gameplay is pretty short but this stage has some pretty long event dialogues. If you've been collecting skill points by finishing the challenge missions in all stages so far, this will be the first stage where the difficulty will change to hard. If you don't want it to be hard, just ignore the challenge missions and keep getting gameovers and restart a stage. Just remember you won't get the true ending without getting the skill points and keeping your overall turn count low.

Gameplay wise, it's not a very difficult map. Especially if you've been upgrading the Soleares. If not, you'll want to use the spirit commands and use Creuset as well.

The second part of the stage after completing the objective is a bit tricky as you can lose just from the pathetic Ginn's getting killed. You'll notice I just moved them away from enemy range so they don't get in the way and the enemies will all target me. Mu however, will ignore you and keep attacking Creuset. The stage will end if you take out Mu.

On the point of translation, there isn't anything to note. I do have to say I kinda enjoyed translating the part where Kira re-writes the OS. They use some interesting terminology there.

Here's the video:

Still uploading with 260 minutes left. Will update when finished.

Video is up.
